Saturday (arrival day)
Fill out immigration card in plane---- don’t forget the little tab at the bottom
Pass through immigration and make sure you don’t lose the little tab from the immigration form. You’ll need it later.
Walk right past luggage claim on your right, but pick up several of the nice glossy island magazines to bring home from the left. Get a couple of island maps from the kiosk in the middle of the room.
Go out the exit and stop at the Paradise Island window on the left. They’ll tell you to wait by the light pole in the parking lot for a shuttle to take you to their office a mile or so down the street.
Get the car and continue down the road you were on coming from the terminal. Follow this road blindly. Eventually it will pass into the French side and become one-way and then resume as a two-way road. After Texaco and then a stadium on your right look for a red sign that says MATCH. Turn in here and run into the supermarket. Leave someone in the car with the luggage. Just in the door to the right they will give you a token for the carts. Pick up 6-12 bottles of flat water, Cokes (or try Ting) etc, cereal, milk and some snack food. Continue down the road in the same direction up and down hills. When you can see the ocean in the distance, you will be going down a hill headed for Grand Case. (This is where the great restaurants are.) The island in the distance is Anguilla. Go through the edge of Grand Case and across the salt pond. Watch the really bad curve at the end of the salt pond. At the fork in the road, stay right, pass the first entrance to Baie Orientale with a guardhouse on the left. As you crest the next hill (large utility tower visible) turn left and follow the road around to the left then the right. The Green Cay Village check in is the first road to the left and then the second building on the right. Check in.
Unpack later. Either walk straight down the road between your house and the beach or drive down. Take your credit card and some cash. (Don’t leave anything in the car to tempt someone). Walk the entire length of the beach or at least the entire length to the right. The far right is clothing optional, while the rest is topless or fully clothed. Since it should be mid afternoon you should not have to pay for a chair to sit on in most places. Don’t rent a chair for the week until you are sure which part of the beach is for you. If you are staying at Green Cay Villas you have free use of chairs at La Playa. We like the area to the far right with the yellow umbrellas because the chairs are not on top of another. At the far right end of the beach is a restaurant called Papagayo. Go in and establish a tab using your credit card.
For dinner tonight, at about 7 p.m., drive back toward Grand Case (toward the airport), turn right at the first main street and right again for a fantastic restaurant Sol e Luna 590-29-08-56!

Sunday: Take breakfast on you deck overlooking your private pool. Tune in Laser 101 on the stereo for some island sounds. Call Le Bistro Nu (590-87-97-09) for 8 p.m. reservations. Chill on the beach taking water with you. Lunch at Papagayo. (The grilled chicken sandwich is great and is enough for two). You can drive here later in the day for the 5:30 happy hour. Try a drink called "All-Over Tan" ( To drive here go out to the main road, turn left, turn left at the road toward Le Galleon and Club Orient. Immediately turn left again into what looks like a mud hole, and follow all the way to the entrance to Club Orient. Ask the guard for directions to Papagayo. For dinner, go back into Marigot and park in the lot for the stadium on the left (they will be grilling food at one end of the lot). The restaurant ( Le Bistrot Nu) is right across the street, up a small alley next to a store with a Crayon sign. Tell Jean Claude that you want the chocolate thing for dessert.

Monday: Before breakfast, walk the entire length of the beach. After breakfast drive over near Club Orient but don’t turn left into the mud hole. The butterfly farm is on the right. Your admission fee is good for the entire week. It’s more fun than it sounds, and you’ll want to go back. Call Il Nettuno for dinner reservations (590-87-77-38). Tell Ramon that you were sent by a Philadelphia lawyer named James and that you want a nice table near the water. Chill on the beach and near your pool. Try lunch at Pedro’s near Club Orient. Before dinner crash the clothing optional wine and cheese party at Papagayo in the Club Orient Resort, which starts at 5:30. It’s a real hoot. To get to Il Nettuno, drive back toward Marigot. When you pass the bad curve in the road before the salt pond, turn right (toward the French airport), follow the Road into Grand Case. When you drive past the restaurant with the white lights wrapped around the large almond tree, mark this spot for dinner Wednesday. A little further down the road, check out the little open area with local restaurants on the right for lunch on a rainy day. Just past this is a parking lot on the left. It will cost $3 to park here unless you found a place on the street. Il Nettuno is just across the street from the lot. After dinner continue down this street to check out the other restaurants. At the stop sign turn left for home.

Tuesday: Before breakfast, walk the entire length of the beach. Go into the shop at Club Orient for pastry to eat with breakfast. Take you goggles to the beach today and try the wave runners. Lunch at one of the beach bars. Dinner tonight will be at Papagayo. (Reservations not needed). Stop down during the day to make reservations. They will have a band for dancing tonight. You’ve been there for drinks and lunch so you know the "dress" code. You’ll have the experience of your life watching the dancers tonight. Read Less

Thursday: Before breakfast, walk the entire length of the beach. Relax on the beach, consider snorkeling or parasailing. If you like shopping, go into Marigot for dinner. Follow the road to the airport, Texaco you are forced to turn right, and then you should turn immediately left. Be careful! At the main intersection there is no stop sign or light to control traffic in either direction. Turn right and find a place to park (you are heading for the shops and restaurants on your left in Marina Royal.) You may have to turn right onto Blvd General de Gaulle to park. The shops in Marina Royal are open for shopping tonight. When you’ve had enough, pick any one of the restaurants along the water. If you don’t like to shop, try something different for dinner at Le Pirote in Grand Case. Call for reservations. Drive past the salt pond, and turn right into street that bisects the main Blvd de Grand Case. Before the stop sign you’ll see the Gendarmerie (police station) on the right. The restaurant is behind it.

Friday: Before breakfast, walk the entire length of the beach. Relax and call L’Alabama for dinner reservations (two seatings)(590-87-81-66). L’Alabama is in Grand Case on the left about 250 yards from Il Nettuno. Try happy hour at Peeping Tom’s Bar on the beach.

Saturday: Before breakfast, walk the entire length of the beach. If you have a late afternoon flight, consider going to the airport when the ticket counter opens to check in. We usually call a day or two before to make certain of the time and to make sure we don’t clash with a flight departure time. Get your tickets then go to the window on the way to the departure lounge, check the arrival times for the Air France 747 from Paris, and pay the departure tax ($20 per person). Head back to the beach. If your flight is after the 747's arrival time, drive past the airport, and turn left when the road turns right toward the hotels and casinos. The road will go between the beach and the end of the runway. Park and get a drink at the Sunset Beach Bar and wait for the 747. As is approaches, take a stroll toward the end of the runway but stay clear of the area immediately in front of the runway as the plane occasionally catches the fence! Have your camera ready. Return the car and head home to plan your return trip. Read Less
