Madeira Beach, FL

A June 2005 trip to Madeira Beach by AngelaMHaven

Madeira Beach, along Florida's Gulf Coast, provides a laid-back, relaxing, sun-filled vacation. Eat seafood, walk the beach, and relax.

The beach is a broad expanse of sand great for walking, looking for seashells, or just lounging in your lounge chairs. The water is the clear turquoise water like you find along the northwest Florida area. The early part of June is a great time to go; it's not too hot,the sun is bright, and you can find your way into restaurants without a wait.

Quick Tips:

Best Way To Get Around:

I recommend renting a car. It's the easiest way to get around. One thing about this area that is great is that do offer a trolley service from the St. Pete area to the Clearwater area, which runs all day and is very inexpensive. You can pick up a map, and it makes multiple stops at many different places.
Best Things Nearby:
It was right on the beach. About 2 miles down, you had John's Pass, with history, restaurants, and shopping. Also, this is where you have fishing boats come in, so there is fresh fish every night. Also, the Candy Kitchen is within walking distance. This place is packed every night, but it's worth the wait!

Best Things About the Resort:
The two bedrooms over look the street and the bay but are very large and spacious. The master bedroom has a queen-size bed and walk-in closet. The bathroom has a walk-in shower. The second bedroom has two twin beds, and the second bathroom has a bathtub/shower combo. The kitchen is very large and has a walk-in pantry. If I were to want to cook on vacation, I could very easily cook in this kitchen.

Resort Experience:
This resort, being located right on the beach, provides cabana-type beach chairs and cushions for your enjoyment. The Island Gulf does not have a swimming pool, but does have a large Jacuzzi, and its sister resort, Sand Pebble, down the street in Treasure Island, has a swimming pool - we had access to all of their amenities. But you are on the beach, so if you get hot, go jump in the ocean! They have different activities each day to entertain, hot dogs, bingo, and ice cream. This resort is in a perfect area, as you are close to everything; dining, shopping, and St. Pete.
