Quote: Two short days in Geneva only gave as glimpses of all the possibilities in town.
Visit Golay Spierer’s atelier in Carouge. A former chemical engineer has opened a watchmaker store where one can put together one’s dream watch. Prices start at Sir. 7,000 and go up from there. Clients who wish to have a truly unique timepiece will be served well here. Nothing is impossible, and M. Golay has the know-how and connections to specialists to fill any order. This watch studio produces about 27 wristwatches a year. See www.golay-spierer.ch
The Martin Bodmer Foundation is located 10 minutes away by taxi from downtown. One of the world’s most exclusive libraries has been open to the public for the last 2 years. Mario Botta integrated the new exhibition halls in the elegant 19th-century estate. The collection contains original Egyptian papyrus, the first translations of major Greek writers, one of four remaining Gutenberg Bibles, and original music scores by Beethoven. In addition to authors of European literature, the collection contains major work from all continents. This is a wonderful place for any book lover. See www.fondationbodmer.org
