Weekend in Velas

This resort was an all-inclusive resort, but boy, was it worth the money. Everything was included! My room was amazingly clean and nice. The furniture was very modern, and the pillows and sheets are sooooo comfortable. I slept so well the entire time I was there! When you check in they hand you a menu for the specific kind of pillows and sheets that you prefere. It was absolutely breathtaking! The grounds were well maintained as well as the inside of the resort was immaculate. I have become such a resort snob since staying at the Grand Velas.

Best Things Nearby:
The city was great. You could take a taxi into town that was only five dollars and spend all day going through the shops and the marina. They have a boardwalk there along the ocean in town where all the local artists show their work for sale. It was very charming and safe.

Best Things About the Resort:
This resort was amazing because of the service. They treat you like you just stepped off of the red carpet. I ordered room service, and exactly 25 minutes after it was delivered, they knocked on the door to take the dishes away without me having to ask them. It was an amazing feeling to be served like that when I am used to a normal timeshare experience, where I do EVERYTHING. They even had a laundry service that was included, which was great for our beach towels and bathing suites. The food was excellent, as well, because it wasn't the regular all-inclusive buffet.

Resort Experience:
The resort is so beautiful, and the gardens are very well-manicured. The staff is definitely hand-picked because the people are amazing. I would recommend every RCI member go there just to experience an all-inclusive like that.

I would recommend this for everyone. I was very against all-inclusive, but then I was convinced to go, and I will go to all-inclusive for the rest of my life. This resort was wonderful because they do everything for you, so you can actually enjoy your vacation instead of clean, cook, and stress like you do at home. I would have never known what it was like, but this resort has set my standard, and I have a feeling now that I will be a resort snob for the rest of my life!
