St. Maarten for Two

A July 2004 trip to St. Maarten/St. Martin by Pjean

Pelican ResortMore Photos

This was my second trip to St. Maarten and my husband's first. He fell in love with the island, just as I had. We toured several resorts and did a sunset dinner cruise and an all-day island tour. We also explored several beaches that quickly became our favorites.

Views of St. Maarten
We liked exploring the beaches, and there was a great variety of restaurants. We enjoyed an all-day cruise on the Lambada and a sunset dinner cruise as well this trip.

Quick Tips:

Unity Car Rental gave us a great deal for touring a timeshare. Touring timeshares, if you have the time, is a fun way to check out future resorts you may want to stay at, and the gifts you get are very generous.

Our favorite for a personable and fun staff is the Royal Islander Club La Terrasse. We are booked in a three-bedroom suite for July 2005. I will look forward to doing a future report on this resort.

Best Way To Get Around:

A car rental is the best way to explore all that St. Maarten offers, and it is very easy to get around.

Best Things Nearby:
Pool, beach, casino, and center of all island tours and cruise adventures

Best Things About the Resort:
There were a variety of activities right on site and several different pools, including a pool bar. There was a restaurant, store, water activities, casino, and shopping within walking distance.

Resort Experience:
This was my second visit to the Pelican, and I was much more impressed. The studio was very roomy, with a large bed and full kitchen. Our favorite feature was the sliding doors that pulled across the room to separate the bedroom from the front room. We also enjoyed the balcony view from our unit. Please see the photos.

This was a romantic, refreshing experience. It was very casual and laid-back. You can enjoy looking out over the bay right at dockside. The food was good, with generous portions.

Lambada day trip
The smooth ride on both the Lambada and Tango made for a wonderful trip. Seeing all the different beaches and resorts along the way was the highlight. Snorkeling on the Lambada was fun as well. Please see the photos
