You can drive around the peninsula and stop at one of many parking areas to enjoy hiking, beaches, boating, and taking pictures of the nice views or wildlife (turtles seemed to be everywhere in some of the lagoons) and two lighthouses. Admission to the park is free!
Quick Tips:
See
this page for more park information and maps. Stop at the Interpretive Center for a free park map, since it is the first location where you can get it. Another interesting site with maps and more information is

Best Way To Get Around:
We drove around in a car, which was hassle-free, and there were plenty of parking spots - but it was just the beginning of the season, so I am not sure how it is in mid-summer. Based on what I saw, biking would be fast and fun.
