Make sure you go out in the two major squares. I am not sure of the names, but one is Ledzeplin. Make sure you go to a coffeeshop and experience the marijuana culture there. Also, make sure you eat plenty of french fries and pancakes. They are soooo delicious. There was nothing compared to the french fries I had eaten on the street walking home from the bar. They were amazing and cheap!

Quick Tips:

Best Way To Get Around:

It is a very small city, so it is easy to walk. Do not be scared to ask for directions, as it is a very friendly city. Also, there is a tram that is very easy for getting from the train station to your hostel. However, you may have to ask for help in getting onto the right tram, but a plus is that it is fairly reasonably priced.
The room
BASIC, BASIC, BASIC. Probably the grossest place I stayed while travelling in Europe. From what I've heard, it's one of the dirtiest hostels in Amsterdam. However, it is fun. The hostel pub was always bustling and was fun. The hostel always had new people in and out, which was fun. It did have lockers in the room, which was a plus. However, I would not recommend staying here for more than 2 nights MAX; otherwise, you will not be able to feel clean ever again in your life.

It is preserved amazingly. For those who have read the book, it is an amazing place to visit. (It is amazing even if you have not read the book as well). You get an amazing idea of life was like in the annex. Even the pictures Ann hung on the wall are still intact.

Heineken Experience
It is fun. It’s not exactly a museum. It’s more like a mini theme park. There are many hands-on activities and mini rides. The best part is the mini bars set up throughout the exhibit where you get a free Heineken.

It is a museum of most of Van Gogh and his influences' and students' works. It is not too great unless you love art. FYI, Starry Night is not in this museum. I was bored.

Bars in AmsterdamBest of IgoUgo

It is CRAZY. There are tons of people, even in the winter. There is plenty to do, whether it is kick back a Heineken in a semi-quiet club or dance the night away at a nightclub. I did a little bit of both and had a great time. Everyone in Amsterdam is looking for a good time, so it is a great place to let loose and enjoy yourself and meet people. You do not have to do drugs to enjoy yourself here; however, you do have to like to party.
