A May 2005 trip

Quote: Cherry Orchard Aparthotel is one of the best resorts we have stayed in. The furnishings were all up-to-date and very clean. We had a two-bedroom apartment, the bedrooms were of an ample size, there were twin or double beds, and there was a large lounge and kitchen with plenty of cooking utensils. Within the complex, there was also a good-sized heated swimming pool and a lovely warm Jacuzzi. There was also a sauna, and for the sun-worshippers, a stand-alone tanning cabinet.
Port Erin itself also had many places within the town for shorter walks. Another longer sojourn was into Port St Mary or Castletown to view the highlights. Castletown in particular is of historic interest and, again, a bus to bring you home.
The only day we travelled further afield was when we went into Douglas, then onto Snaefell, where we took the train to the top. As it was a clear day in Scotland, England and Ireland could be seen at the same time, as could beautiful views of the island. Once down at the bottom, we wandered up to the Laxey Wheel and mine workings, where hubby climbed to the top, but I only managed the first flight.
