We took our first trip to Kauai last month and can't wait to go back! Our stay couldn't have been better. Our resort, Kauai at the Beachboy, was wonderful. It had everything we needed and was in a great central island location. There was even an outdoor shopping mall, Coconut Market Place, right across the driveway! We were there with our two young children, ages 2 and 4, and my parents, and everyone had a great time. The pool was nice, with a little waterfall, and there was even a small pool just for kids. There's a little bar by the pool that was great for a little tropical drink to cool you off. They had a few selection for food, but we never tried any. My son loved the hot tub and would sit on the edge with his grandpa, watching the ocean. There are also two BBQs right by the pool, which we took advantage of and grilled steaks a couple of times.

We had a two-bedroom unit, and upon request, they put the two twin beds in the second bedroom together, so we had two king beds. The rooms do not disappoint; they are furnished nicely, with plenty of room for all of us. And we had a nice view of the pool and the ocean.

Another bonus is the restautant, Hukilai Lanai. My husband picked it as his favorite, even after eating at many really nice restaurants. They had great food and service to match. We all loved the calamari and had it like five times that week! They also have live music in the bar some nights, which was nice to relax to. But you have to be in the bar to hear it, as the sound of the waterfall and ocean keep the rooms nice and quiet.

I would recommend this resort to anyone and will gladly stay here again when we visit.

Quick Tips:

Best Way To Get Around:

We had a rental car (van), which worked great. There were six in our group so we could all hop in and go wherever. My parents also rented a convertible, which was very fun, and if we didn't have kids, we would have gone that route too!

Attraction | "Zipline Tour"

Zipline
I'm so glad we did this on our trip--the zipline tour was great! This tour has eight ziplines, a suspension bridge, and a tiny bit of hiking. Our group was mostly 20- to 40-somethings, with one couple who were in their 60s, so most adventurous souls can handle it. It's nothing too hard. The lunch break by the little swimming hole was great; even though the sun wasn't out when we were there (it had just finished raining), a few of us jumped in. We couldn't go all that way and not say we did it all!

Our guides were great--very informative and kept us laughing. One is a chef in his other life, so our lunch of turkey and salami pita was displayed beautifully! Definitely hit this adventure when you're there--it's well worth the price in my opinion.
