Renaissance Manchester

Hotel | "Renaissance"

Quote:
The hotel looks quite imposing, as it is a tall 15-story building in the heart of the Manchester city centre. As you enter the lobby through revolving doors, you immediately get a sense of style and ambience, with heavy wood and marble all over the lobby. The hotel is owned and operated by the Marriott chain of hotels, which operates all of the Renaissance branded hotels throughout the world. Check-in? Check-in begins at 2pm, although we arrived at 11:30am and were able to go into our room straight away. Check-out from the room had to be by noon. The room? The room we had was quite spacious and decorated in a light, airy style with flowered bedspreads. Everything ...Read More

Living Room

Restaurant | "The Living Room"

Quote:
The Living Room is a luxurious bar and restaurant located in the heart of Manchester on trendy Deansgate in a great location for shopping and nights out. As you enter on the ground floor you are in the bar area which is known as the Living Room. Here you can eat during the day (you can also opt to eat upstairs in the dining room, but you tend to need to book more often than not to eat upstairs) as well as enjoy the wide range of drinks and the great coffee. The prices are pretty much in line with most other city centre bars. Upstairs is the dining room, which is fitted with spacious tables, as well as smaller, more intimate booths of white leather. The decor: Cool a...Read More

Hard Rock Cafe Manchester

Restaurant | "Hard Rock Cafe"

Quote:
Living near Manchester, I was excited when I heard that a new Hard Rock Cafe was to open. It is situated in the city centre as part of the new Printworks development. Printworks features a range of leisure activities, including bars, restaurants, shops, and cinemas, and is great for an evening out. The Hard Rock Cafe has a prime location on one side of Printworks and is accessible from the main road. If you want to have a drink, then it is only a 2-minute walk from the Victoria train station, which has great local and national train access and access to the tram system. What is it like inside? I like the rock' n' roll style, and you can see their motif, "Love All - Serve All...Read More

Selfridges is definitely once of the best and trendiest stores in Manchester. It opened following the success of the Trafford Centre in Manchester and the city centre store has quickly become a favourite amongst shoppers in the heart of the city. Location? The store is within easy walking distance of Victoria train station, and many buses stop here (Cross Street). You can also use the M&S car park (off Deansgate), which is located underneath both stores. Clothing: For men, they have a wide range of makes, including Ted Baker, Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren, Paul Smith, etc., and they also have quite a good formal section with very knowledgeable staff able to help y...Read More

Waterstones

Attraction | "Waterstones Booksellers"

Quote:
Waterstones is a large independent UK bookseller, and their store in Manchester is located on the shopping street of Deansgate opposite the department store Kendals. Waterstones does not offer huge discounts such as other book retailers like WH Smith do, but the store in Manchester is the largest book store in Manchester, as well as one of the largest in the northwest, and offers a great range of fiction and non-fiction titles, including some books that are hard to find in other places! The ground and first floors offer a great range of fiction including Waterstones bestsellers, the Richard and Judy Book Club, and much more. There is an impressive range of foreign titles and staff pic...Read More

Where is it?The White Hart Inn is located in Lydgate Saddleworth and is approximately 15 miles from city centre Manchester and is only about 10 minutes drive from the M62 and is not far from the Saddleworth Moors. What's there?Well from the outside the White Hart still has the look of a typical British pub complete with benches outside for the some summer sunshine that we do occasionally enjoy! Entering through the main door at the front is the pub with two small rooms located on the right hand side. The pub is like most British pubs but does have a very good wine list as well as an extensive range of changing guest beers that will keep most peo...Read More

See Concorde at Manchester Airport!

Story/Tip

Quote:
There are two main parts to the aviation park, which is open every day (with the exception of major holidays). The aviation park is split into three main areas. There is a large car park where you can basically park your car and explore on foot. There is a smaller car park at the front with many less spaces. Here you can park and actually watch the planes as they take off and land (I visited at 2pm in the afternoon, and spaces here are very few and far between, as this is where many of the serious plane enthusiasts come and park!). In addition, you can walk on foot and visit the wooden built platforms that act as the viewing areas. These also contain binoculars, for which there is a small fee (p...Read More

Shopping at John Lewis Cheadle

Best Of IgoUgo

Story/Tip

Quote:
John Lewis Cheadle What do they sell? John Lewis is a large department store that basically sells everything under the sun! They sell a wide range of good-value makes, as well as more popular designer articles. The prices are comparable at John Lewis with elsewhere, the John Lewis motto is "never knowingly undersold," and they do offer a price match promise (although I think that this excludes online shopping). The store also has two sales (called stock clearances) in January and the summer, and you can normally pick up some great furniture bargains at this time. BASEMENT: John Lewis in Cheadle is split on three floors. Starting in the basement, you find men's clothin...Read More
