The beach is always beautiful. The water is too cold for someone who is not from Maine or Canada (even in the summer), but the view is amazing. The town of Kennebunk and all the shops are amazing. It is exactly what would come to your mind when thinking of a New England beach town. Quick Tips: Make sure you eat a lobster roll ("lobstah") at least once, and enjoy some fried haddock at any local stand. Lobster rolls are huge chunks of steamed lobster tossed in mayonnaise and then served on a hot dog-style roll.Best Way To Get Around: I would suggest renting a car to be able to go from Kennebunk to the beach and to the port with all the shops. The Kennebunks to me are the essence of a New England beach town. The shops, retaurants, people, and view are exactly what I had anticipated in my mind and then some. Maine is full of wonderful people who are kind and very polite. Life is simple and slow, and their accents are warming. There are so many good places to eat and great shops to look around. If you are big into antiques, there are plenty of antiques shops in and around the surrounding area. The beach is large and clean, and large rocks jut out on the far ends.
