Quote: Porto Alegre is indeed about the closest one will appreciate for its change of seasons .It has a actual four season cycle, unlike most of Brazil which doesn't seem to have more than Spring and Summer. Its rich architecture makes one start thinking they are somewhere in Europe many years ago.

City of Rich Architecture and alittle like home.

Overview

Quote:
Logically this capital city of the State of Rio Grande do Sul has many locations to visit and allocate a lot of time if you are the curious type. Go visit the beach of Lami, clean and with clear water. Or if intersted in architecture, this will be paradise for you. Its many structures dating back around two centuries ago. There is a terrific bridge called Ponte da Azenha, with a few palm trees planted decades ago from the State of California. Yes, American palm trees in a country that has so many different species already. City Hall is wonderful in the center of the city at Praca Montevideu. Even a visit to Chale da Praca XV is worth the viewing. It has ...Read More

They as well have a restuarant, telephone, parking facilities. The rooms are air conditioned and quite cozy. There is a bar and sauna here too.

Ponte da Azenha

Quote:
This bridge is quite attractive. It connects Porto Alegre and the town of Viamao. It can be found between Avenida Ipiranga and Avenida Joao Pessoa.
What really caught my eye while there was a view of some really tall palm trees there.

The palm trees are actually not native Brazilain ones, but ones planted decades ago from the State of California.
It is a popular site with tourists.

City Hall - Paco dos Acorianos

Attraction | "City Hall- Paco dos Acorianos"

Quote:
This poplar destination is their city hall with its rich 20th century architecture. I really liked the sculptures in the facade which represent Education, Politics and Economy. It is located in the center of the city at Praca Monte Videu. Looking at their city hall gives the impression one is looking back in time. I liked it alot. Its tall white columns and black railing in front really accent the building.

Chale da Praca XV

Attraction

Quote:
Chale da Praca XV is another fine example of reaching back in time. It is located at Largo Glenio Peres. To date, it still has old time photographers whom use tripods to take photographs as in the olden days. It is one of the oldest traditonal bars still around in Porto Alegre. The structure still possesses its old lamps from a hundred years ago and is beautiful to see. I enjoyed viewing it. It is open Monday to Friday from 11am till 11:30 pm, and Saturdays 11am till 8pm.

If you have time to view something great it would be their botanic garden located on Avenida Salvador Franca. They are open to the public from Tuesday till Friday from 8am till 5pm. It gives a chance to walk among many different species of flora present there and the garden even sells seedlings of alot of different species. Logically, it is not adviseable from customs authories to re-enter your country with them, but the choice is yours. By the way, one of their bridges,Azenha, are alined with palms, from the USA,so why not have a beautiful flora at your home, provided it isn't something dangerous to your local environment. Otherwise enjoy the view. You will be surprised by the vast...Read More

Parque Farroupilha- Park Photo, Porto Alegre, Brazil
Quote:
This is one of the most beautiful parks you will ever visit. Its is among the largest in all of Latin America. It has vast quantities of copper statues and marble statues given to the city by many countries of the world. I especially liked a statue dedicated to the Expeditionary Force which fought in the Second War War. There is a small zoo there as well. You will love the parks general tranquil appearance with water and trees everywhere. Another park to visit would be one named after the Brazilian Navy called, Parque Marinha do Brasil, located along the sides of Lake Guaiba in Porto Alegre. Its broad trees are quite nice looking and it has a civic center as well. It is located in the...Read More
