My perspective and views of Myrtle Beach when the weather is not the best in the world. This journal is from my perspective when three out of the five days we were in Myrtle Beach were not the most pleasant. Cold and rain was the weather for the extended weekend.

It all depends on when you are visiting this location as to what the rates will be. Just like any other beach town, the prices go up when the demand is high. The BWGS does not let anyone under the age of 25 book or occupy a room without someone over 25. This helps to keep away some of the unwanted partiers that frequent MB. So if you are a college student looking for a place to stay, you might have trouble staying here. It is a great place to stay for the price you pay, and it is right across the street from the beach! The hotel likes to focus their business on families and business travelers.

We had just a few problems with the rooms. My family has stayed here four times in the past and never had any problems, but this trip was a little different. Being it was the beginning of the season, the rooms had been closed up during the off-season, and they were a little musty. The staff is overall friendly, but like any other hotel, they have their moments. The breakfast area can get a little busy due to its small size, but it is manageable. For the time of the season, we had no problem finding parking at all times of the day, but I can imagine it could become a problem during the peak of the season.

The following are some of the amenities the hotel has to offer:

Microwaves in all efficiencies
125’ Lazy River and hot tub
25" TVs
Free wireless high-speed Internet access
Sundeck
Non-smoking rooms available
Hairdryers, ironing board, and iron in all rooms
Room safes
Refrigerators and microwaves in all rooms
30' by 60' heated pool

The BWGS had 12 different room types, ranging from single rooms with queen beds to a three-room cottage that is located right behind the hotel property. The more popular rooms are the two-room efficiencies and the apartments. Completely remodeled about three years ago, all the rooms have been updated and are clean. I recommend an efficiency because of the fridge/microwave for the occasional lunch and leftovers.

Starting this season, rooms are now available in the oceanfront building. All the rooms face the ocean and have been completely remodeled as well. The building looks brand-new in appearance, except for the elevator. The only drawback is that the oceanfront building is across the street and two doors south of the main building. Registration, laundry, pools, and the breakfast area are located in the main building, just a short walk. Overall the property is a wonderful place, especially when the weather cooperates. Check photos for the very nice pool area. The hot tub is hot, the pool is warm (80 degrees, to be exact), and the lazy river is temperature-controlled by Mother Nature. The lazy river is a great way to relax after a long day at the beach or playing golf.

MT Atlanticus Miniature GolfBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Mt. Atlanticus"

Mt. Atlanticus
One of the best mini-golf courses I have ever played or seen. The prices are not that bad either. Mt. Atlanticus has two courses with completely different holes. The courses are built in an old department store, parking garage, and more ground space. Both of the courses start out indoors, with a large practice area before the first hole. The third hole is outside and on the second level of the parking garage. The courses then lead you down the "mountain", around and over the lakes. Halfway through the course, you make your way back up the mountain back to the second level of the parking garage. Your eighteenth hole finishes up in a tower-like hut at least four stories high. You finish back inside with a chance to win a lifetime pass if you can putt down a slight slope down a 20-foot strip that is no wider than 6 inches. You miss putt, and your ball is in the water. There have been a number of people that have succeeded and have lifetime passes. This is not your ordinary mini-golf course. None of the holes are the same, and rocks, sand traps, tall grass, and water are out to get you. This is a great place to play--even better at night, when the fires from torches and the top of the mountain are burning away.
