We spent our honeymoon here after the hurricanes of 2004. There is still so much to enjoy!

Best Things Nearby:
Golf, fishing, horseback riding, snorkeling, scuba diving, restaurants, shopping

Best Things About the Resort:
The Island Seas Resort is right on the ocean; you can walk out your front door and be on the beach in no time!

Resort Experience:
I read some mixed reviews of this resort, and I have a few myself, but all in all, this is a place that I can certainly recommend to anyone. The location is ideal as far as I am concerned in regards to the island of Freeport. It is far enough away from the "main" resort area (Lucaya Beach), yet close enough that it only takes a short cab ride to enjoy all the activities that go on there. The fact that the beach is right outside your door is something that I really liked. A good amount of resorts in the Freeport area are built around the back bays and therefore have no beaches; this is a real turnoff in my opinion.

Things to look out for:
1. The cost of food--it is more expensive than most of the U.S., so BE PREPARED FOR IT! I think bottled water is more expensive here than rum!
2. We found most of the cab drivers to be entertaining and well worth the modest fees they charged to drive us around (I couldn't rationalize the cost of renting a car here). Figure to spend around twenty dollars a day to use the cab service.
3. Like most of the Bahamas, the attitude is laid-back; so as far as service goes, it may not be what you're used to, but they get the job done... EVENTUALLY.
4. The bartenders were great at this resort; like the food service, they ran out of a lot of things but always had something.
5. The food was good enough for lunch, but plan on cooking in or going out to dinners. The beach is great, except for a few peddlers. MAKE SURE YOU VISIT ZONK'S--great food, not the most sanitary, but a great experience!
6. If Mitch is still there, make friends with him; he took us to a local fish fry and is a great guy who will be more than willing to drive you around most nights.
7. There are plenty of activities to sign up for and do at this resort--take advantage of them.
8. We stayed in the (older) section of the resort on the beach side, and this is where you want to be--not across the street in the (new) section. This only makes a dramatic difference if you have a beachfront unit, however, and otherwise it really is not that big of a deal.
