This was our third trip to Stowe. We have also stayed at Smuggler's Notch (our favorite) and Mountainside Resort. We came in April, definitely the off-season. There weren't more than half a dozen cars in the whole resort. Since business was so slow, this was the week they scheduled to close the pool and do maintenance to the units and grounds. This actually worked out because they made arrangements for us to use the pool facilities at the Stoweflake Resort across the street, and we enjoyed their facilities very much. As for our unit at the Village Green, it was very spacious, with two bedrooms downstairs (including a master suite) and a third bedroom with twin beds in a loft on the second floor. We also had a full kitchen, a gas fireplace, and a back door that opened to a huge open area that was great for the kids.
This is an owner-managed resort, so there was a lot of tough talk about the fines they would impose if we didn't adhere to the rules (ie, taking the trash to the dumpster), but overall our experience was good, and we would come back again.
Village Green is right in town, close to the Stowe Recreation Path. If you've got kids, try Pie in the Sky pizza or the Depot Street Malt Shop for dinner, and the Swimming Hole pool has a cool indoor water slide.
