Fort Worth is a very cultural town, be it fine art or western art. If you want to learn a little about western heritage, then Fort Worthis the place to be!

Quick Tips:

Remember that north Texas gets very hot in the summer time. Be sure to wear light, cotton clothing and drink plenty of water. The weather in the spring and fall is usually very mild an pleasant, and winter can also be mild or chilly.

Best Way To Get Around:

The best way to get around Fort Worth is with a car. Most of the attractions have free (or low-cost) parking available. Get a good map from the Chamber of Commerce before you visit, or at their downtown office once you arrive.

Fort Worth Plaza HotelBest of IgoUgo

Hotel | "Ramada Plaza"

The Ramada Plaza is close to downtown and across the street from the Convention Center and the Water Gardens. The parking garage is not free, but it is convenient. Our room was comfortable, although it was decorated in 1970''s style that begged for an update.

Riscky's CatchBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Riscky's BBQ"

This is our favorite "watering hole" when we're in the Stockyards. Their all-you-can-eat-ribs is my husband's favorite, and I like their briskets. The sauce is flavorful but not spicy. Drinks are served in plastic cups which you are encouraged to take with you.

The Back PorchBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

The Back Porch is a great place to grab a sandwich and a cup of soup. They have a variety of both to choose from, and they also make homemade ice cream. The Back Porch is convenient to the Will Rogers Center and also to the Kimbell museum.

Historical Stockyards DistrictBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Stockyards"

The Stockyards is what made Fort Worth famous! Now, the quaint brick streets and the memories of cowboys bring people back!
The daily cattle drives are unique to Fort Worth. The drive leaves at 11:00 and returns at 4:00. The cowhands who tend the longhorns are outfitted in authentic attire and equipment, and they will happily answer questions about them, their horse, and the area.
There are hundreds of shops full of unique merchandise, antiques, and souveniers. The Texas Wines shop in the Stockyards Station area is a personal favorite!

Billy Bob's TexasBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Billy Bob's Texas Nightclub & bars"

Billy Bob's is the World's Largest Honky Tonk. They have live music every night and often have concerts in the large conert pavilion. They also have live bull riding on Friday and Saturday nights. There is a restaurant which features steaks, a video arcade, billiards, and a gift shop, too. You can even have your photo made on a stuffed bucking bull!

The WRMC is host to national and international horse shows. The complex is HUGE! It has several arenas, an exhibit hall, and stalls for thousands of horses. The American Paint Horse Association World Show is held in July, the Appaloosa Horse Club World Show is held in October, and the Fort Worth Stock Show is held in January-February. All of these shows are open to the public, and there are wonderful shopping bazaars and exhibits, too.

Attraction

The Amon Carter Museum is a world-famous colletion of western art. They have several Remington bronzes, as well as several oil paintings. I found this museum to be good for adults, especially those who are interested in western heritage.
