Palm Springs

An April 2005 trip to Palm Springs by noushi

Palm Springs is a laid-back, high-class town that is much better than L.A.

This motel is really lovely, the rooms are spacious and well maintained, and the view of the mountains from our balcony was breathtaking. The complimentary breakfast is the best I've had in any motel (the freshly baked scones were fab, and you can even make your own waffles), and there is also a picnic area and two barbecues for the guests to use. The owners (and their dog!) are very helpful and friendly, and we found that there was plenty to do in the area. We paid $50 a night, which was a complete bargain.

We had a fridge and microwave in our room, so we could save on money instead of going out each night; the bed was comfy; and the room was clean. The elevator was a plus point, along with a view of the mountains from our room. The pool area was just fabulous, the pool is really big, and they also have a hot tub next to it. It was nice being able to sunbathe while having a great view of the mountains.

This really is a better-than-average motel. I’ve stayed in quite a lot now while driving around the States and am very impressed by this one. It's also very quiet and has its own laundry facilities ($2), which, for a traveler, is very handy. Parking is, of course, free.
