Making your center of operations in the town of Waynesville, a 45 minute drive from Ashville, you will find yourself in the middle of activities and within easy access to the 469 mile Blue Ridge Parkway. Visitor Centers are located throughout the park giving information on the activities & weather conditions. Ph.865-436-1200
The park has 238 miles of paved and 146 miles of gravel park roads and 850 miles of foot and horse trails. Waterfalls are plentiful additions to the park landscape. Admission to the park is free.

Quick Tips:

Cataloochee, a formerly farming settlement, is located via US276 through Cove Creek Gap 21 miles north of Waynesville. The valley known for scenic vistas and wild life. It includes several historic buildings and offers trout fishing.
Soco Gap is 13 miles of Waynesville. It offers excellent views Mild High Heintooga Overlook 8 miles NE of Soco Gap offers a view of the great Smoky Mountain National Park.

Best Way To Get Around:

Driving north from Ashvlle or south from Atlanta (3 hours), Waynesville is easily reached on good roads. Walking in town, hiking, horse back riding or driving in the Park. Towns nearby to visit: Maggie Valley, Hillsboro, Highland, Balsam all offer an enchanted aspect of the area.
