The best part of my holiday was on the last day, when I went up the Saulire cable car and was greeted with tremendous views of the Courchevel Valley. There are restaurants right next to the cable car stations at both ends, and if you don't fancy skiing down after a meal at the top, you can always get the cable car back. From the top there are two runs to get down, either a nice red run (which I took) or a slightly more suicidal black run called GD Couloir, which I would only recommend if you are an expert skier, or if you want to spend the next couple of weeks in hospital. On the après ski side of things, the best thing that you can do as a family in the evenings is go out to a restaurant that s...Read More

Le Bouc Blanc

Restaurant

Quote:
The Bouc Blanc is situated up at the top of the bubble lift from La Tania, with superb views of the surrounding mountains. If the weather's nice, the deck area will be open and you can eat out there, but remember to top up on your sun cream - it's suprising how quickly you can burn when you're sitting in one place for some time. The food at the Bouc Blanc was not bad, but not anything special. I had a lovely ham-and-cheese omlette, which was really filling, as is most of the food served there. Presumably, this is to give you energy to ski down, but whatever the reason, it was great. I can't really complain about anything except maybe the speed of the service, but aside from this minor point, it ...Read More

La Taiga

Restaurant

La Taiga was probably the best place that I ate all through my holiday. Not only was the food excellent, the decor and general atmosphere were great. I shared the fondue, which I was a bit nervous about after I had it two nights before at a different restaurant. But I was pleasantly suprised, and instead of everyone reaching over each other to get the food like a tabletop game of Twister, everything was in the right place, easily accessible for everyone. The quality of the food was fantastic; each dish obviously had a lot of effort put into it, and the meals were served reasonably quickly. The meals can be a bit on the expensive side, but the price was well worth it for the delicious food. Desse...Read More

Le Kalico

Restaurant

Quote:
I went to Le Kalico after a long morning's skiing, and it was a relief to get such good service. The restaurant can be accessed from the road in Courcheval, but I got there by skiing underneath the bridge out of Courcheval (next to the Verdons and Chenus lift). The restaurant is directly on your left, after the bridge, and you can just put your skis in the rack against the wall. You can eat inside, but it was such a lovely day that I ate outside, with views up and down the mountain. The food at Le Kalico was good but very filling, although after a morning of skiing, I could have eaten anything. They do have a children's menu if you have young children, which is basically smaller, simpler versions o...Read More

La Taiga

Restaurant | "La Ferme de La Tania"

Quote:
La Ferme de La Tania is a nice little restaurant/café situated in the town centre of La Tania, right next to the nursery slope. In the day, it has tables outside where you can get a snack for lunch (try the ham-and-cheese crepes), but in the evening, you can eat inside. The restaurant itself is quite small, which is why it is best to book in advance, and they can only accommodate groups of up to about eight. Nonetheless, the food is quite good, although sharing fondue is best done only in groups of two or three, as the tables are quite narrow and passing skewers of boiling cheese and bread can be a bit awkward at times. The best part of the evening had to be the desserts. Crepes are La Ferme's s...Read More
