The most memorable thing we did was visit Hoover Dam and Lake Meade, and it was last on my list before we left. Definitely left an impression. Another surprise was Viva Las Vegas at the Strat. Who would have thought? Seeing Sinbad live was definitely the best show we saw. He is hilarious, and no profanity. Things to do: take a tour, see Vegas from the Stratosphere Tower, eat at Aladdin's Buffet, take a walk through Madame Tussauds Wax Museum (and don't be afraid to have fun!), and take at least one weekend night to go downtown, where it's a totally different world.
Quick Tips:
It's a pain to go every day, but it's well worth it to go to tix4tonight for a lot of show tickets and events, like Madame Tussauds or Star Trek Experience. Keep in mind that some shows are not available, like the Hawaiian Luau at Imperial, or high-demand tickets may not be half-price. For example, they had tickets for Celine Dion for a piece. Please do not jaywalk--people drive crazy in Vegas, and it's very common to look around, not see any cars, but then, when you get in the crosswalk, cars seemingly come from nowhere, ready to mow you down, so be careful and walk when it says walk. Hint: if you take a shuttle from the airport, take ALC--they are cheaper than Showtime by .Best Way To Get Around:
Best way to get around depends on what your budget is. We only either walked or took the bus. Get the day pass for ; then you can take it whenever you want for 24 hours. The buses can get very crowded, but it's rumored that they are purchasing double-decker buses that should be available by July, so that will alleviate some of the crowds. Car rentals are convenient, but remember that traffic is horrific in Vegas, and crazy drivers are everywhere, so if you're from New York, you'll be right at home.
