I wasn't the only one who took advantage of the gorgeous sunny day in the Netherlands by visiting the famous Keukenhof gardens... but it's big enough to find your own spot to admire the colorful flowers.

Although it is a bit of a tourist trap, the $12.50 admission is worth it if the day is nice and you don't mind waiting to get some of the better panoramic views. Horticulture buffs and nature lovers of all kinds will appreciate the fantastic displays of flowers and plants, and even those just looking to take a nice stroll will be satisfied. The park is only open for 2 months of the year (late March-late May), so it's no wonder that the bus (#54) running from the Leiden station every 15 minutes was packed for the majority of its daytime trips. I got plenty of good photos and enjoyed some tasty ice cream, but my favorite part was the maze. My best advice is to find a quiet patch of grass or a bench in the sun and just breathe in the lightly scented air.
