Picture water as clear as gin. Picture sand so white it almost hurts your eyes. Picture an azure blue sky above it all. This is Exuma.

We walked along a dirt road and came to a cove that was a perfect crescent of sand. Built ourselves a shelter of shade with some palm fronds that were lying on the sand. Vegged out all day.

Quick Tips:

Take plenty of sunscreen and DO NOT FORGET THE INSECT REPELLENT!

Best Way To Get Around:

Coconut Cove is a small hotel with maybe twelve rooms. Ours was a beachfront unit with a small patio. The room was furnished simply but comfortably and had a small refrigerator. It also had an iron and ironing board---as if anyone plans to do ironing when vacationing in the Bahamas. It had an air-conditioning unit which cooled the room nicely but made a terrible racket. The TV was hooked to satellite dish which apparently had only one receiver. We''d be watching a show and then all of a sudden the channel would change!

Fabulous! Service was great. Ratio of dining staff to diner was 2 or 3 to 1. The food was unbelievable. Fresh, and presented beautifully. In between courses you can step outside and watch the resident sharks being fed.

R and R

Experience

There is nothing to do on Exuma which is what makes it a great place to go. You can spend the day on the beach, drinking cold beers and reading, or you can skip the reading entirely and just drink the cold beers!
