Quote: The National Mall stretches from the U.S. Capitol to the Lincoln Memorial on the Potomac River and houses several memorials to U.S. presidents, as well as the museums of the Smithsonian. On a trip to D.C., don't forget to visit historic Georgetown, the funky Adams-Morgan, and the arty Dupont Circle.

This is probably one of the most popular of the Washington, D.C. museums, because face it, who hasn't had dreams of becoming a pilot or astronaut? The museum contains authentic planes from American history, such as Lindbergh’s Spirit of St. Louis. Here you will also find an assortment of rockets, missiles, and space vehicles. Museum admission is free, but if you want to, you have to BUY a ticket to see the IMAX theater movie.

The area around the memorial is beautiful and wooded. If you visit in the spring and are lucky, you may be treated to the sight of cherry blossoms in full bloom. This memorial stands as a wonderful tribute to one of our nation's founding fathers and former presidents.

VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL Photo, Washington, D.C., United States

This is a simple memorial that has a lot of impact. It lists the names of the many Americans killed during the war by date, not in alphabetical order. It is really sobering to see just how many people actually died in this war.

While not located in the best of neighborhoods, this is the place for live music. I caught Gov't Mule in concert here in December. The dress code is casual.
