Literature buffs, this is certainly a pilgrimage site for you. Eagle & Child (also known colloquially as Bird and Baby) is a traditional pub with a notable history – "The Inklings" met here for lunch on Tuesdays. This group, whose most notable members were C.S. Lewis (The Chronicles of Narnia) and J.R.R. Tolkein (The Lord of the Rings) would meet here; have a pint or two; and discuss literature, religion, and their latest writings – and give friendly critiques of each others’ works.
