As a television and film producer, I have to go to Los Angeles often. Being from Chicago, I tend to "mildly despise" all that L.A. has to offer, yet I try to have a good time!

Mondrian

This is the incredible home of Skybar. Skybar is definitely one of the "in" places to go. It is a very cool, open-air bar at the hotel's incredible pool. The water is actually level with the pool deck, and this is more of a place to be seen than a place to swim. Amazing lounge chairs, sun beds, and couches surround the area, with a very beautiful wait staff to bring you what you desire. The Skybar stays open pretty much all night but only holds a small number of people. If you aren't staying at the hotel, good luck getting in.

The hotel itself is very modern, yet surprisingly relaxing. The staff is really cool and helpful. I had a suite that overlooked almost the entire downtown area and much of the Sunset Strip. It is decorated in all white, with a very cool style.

Overall, I would stay here anytime, but only on an expense account!

Randy's Donuts...in Inglewood (very famous).

Sheraton Gateway LAX

This is the airport Sheraton for LAX. It is actually pretty cool for the price (and style of hotel). It is decorated in a very modern style, with techno music playing in the background. The pool is actually pretty cool, as it has five or six cabanas which you are free to use. All the furniture is very modern, and you can sit and enjoy a drink from the bar as you look out over the pool. They have propane heaters over the poolside seats, should it get cool after the sun sets.

The room is very spacious and features the "Sweet Sleeper" beds, which are awesome! This would be considered a business hotel. It is right next to the airport and rental car locations. You can obviously hear the planes when you are at the pool, but you can't hear them at all inside.

I wouldn't shy away from this hotel, but don't stay here if you are looking for the true LA experience.

Taken in the heart of the sunset strip! It's the Ticket Bunny.

Sunset Strip

So, this is pretty much simply an entry to "de-mystify" the glamour that is Sunset Strip. I took this picture while driving along the glitz of it all. I thought it ranged from the sublime to the ridiculous.
