Even though my lunch date canceled on me at the last minute and I was a tad bit hungover, I enjoyed a fantastic lunch at Blackbird in Chicago. I had read some good things about it and was excited to give it a try. There is a foundation of a French bistro that is made lighter and more stylish without losing the soul, and absolutely primo ingredients prepared with a deft hand. Chef Paul Kahan was the winner of the 2004 James Beard award for best chef in the Midwest. The space is modern. It is rather small.
