We stayed in a few different places during our stay on Ibiza. San Antonio, though full of English, was prettier than I expected. It did have a tacky west end with kebab shops, 2-for-1 drink specials, fast-food, etc., but it has been cleaned up in recent years with the ban on the infamous 18-30 pub crawls so less vomit in the street nowadays. The bay is very pretty--beaches are average, though there were some better beaches just a drive or boat trip away (Calla Bassa, Calla Conte). There’s the fun club, Es Paradis, with its water parties. Ibiza Town is stunning. Jumbled narrow streets and a castle atop the hill made this our favorite stop. Don’t get me wrong; it wasn’t all about the histo...Read More

We booked this place online at ibiza-hotels and got a great price. It was the middle of May, so the season was just starting. We paid just 25€ a night for this hotel and felt that we got a fantastic deal. However, looking later in the season, I did notice the prices went up considerably, and I’m not sure I would have been happy paying the 185€ they asked for in August. The hotel does not look as good as it does on the website, but it offers air-conditioning at no extra cost as a big selling point!!! We liked this place. It was next to a taxi rank, so it could be noisy, but we were certainly not in Ibiza to rest. Its location was on the Figuretes side of Ib...Read More

We stayed at this hotel in May 2004, and the rates were so great that I was not expecting anything much at all. We paid 20€ each, which was great. The rates in summer shoot up dramatically, though. The rooms were very clean and quite large. There was a TV, telephone, and balcony overlooking the distant hills and whitewashed buildings. The location of the Marco Polo was the best. We were right next door to both Es Paradis and Eden. Now, I’m not sure if this would be a noise problem in summer months. In May, Eden was still closed and the night Es Paradis was open, we were at the club till it closed anyway, so there was no noise for us except the roosters below our window the next morning!!! The hotel...Read More

This restaurant is also a hotel/hostel that we had wanted to stay in, but we couldn't get reservations. So we thought the next best thing would be to eat there one night. It was great. We didn't have reservations and had a wait a little while, but not too long. I think in the summer it would be a different story. Restaurant Marina is right on the port where the cruise ships come in, so most of those restaurants get really busy (and raise their prices, too), so try and avoid the cruise-ship time. The tables were long and wooden, almost like a German beer house, with dark wood and a local atmosphere. There were hams hanging behind the bar (sorry, curing!!). The food was great. I had the paella, whic...Read More

Es Paradis is one of the Ibiza super clubs. The big promotion nights will vary through the summer. Try the water party at least for something a little different. The main (circle) dance floor starts filling up with water from various jets around 4am, and very soon that whole middle area is waist-deep in water, very dirty water. There’re plenty of areas to not get wet, but if you go there, you have to just experience it. If you are not going to be sober, have friends around once the water gets deep, as things do get a little crazy with people doing dives and jumps from the pillars. The music on the water night is good; it’s a mix or trance and dance. Clockwork Orange also has a night there that is o...Read More

This club is across the harbour from Ibiza town. Depending where you stay, you can walk here. It’s more fun to take the el Divino water taxis (included in price of club) across the harbour that drop you right at the club entrance. The decor is really pretty and has some of the more elegant promotional nights like Miss Moneypennies and Hed Kandi. This club is gay friendly. As usual, they serve very pricey drinks. There are beautiful women and pretty boys. The music was party trance. The night we went, Hed Kandi was spinning, so there were more twisted disco tunes. It started filling up around 2am and was pretty quiet until this point. By 4am, the place was heaving. The outdoor terrace had a ...Read More

No trip to Ibiza is complete without a night out at SPACE. The best time to go is for the legendary Sunday party that pretty much goes on all day and all night. Space started as an after-hours club opening in the early morning after the other clubs closed and running all through it. Now they have day sessions, night sessions, and all-day and all-night sessions. We went for the opening party in summer of 2004, and it cost us a small fortune for tickets. The club started early and went all through the night and into the following day. Space is world-renowned, attracts all the top international DJ’s, and has promotional nights. You will find Carl Cox, Sasha, Digweed, Voodoo, and Serrano among the r...Read More

Bora Bora Beach Bar

Attraction

Bora Bora is fairly close to Space in Playa d’en Bossa. It’s right on the beach and is really a cross between a beach bar, chill-out area, and club. Unlike other Ibiza clubs, this one has free entry and much cheaper drinks (about 3€ a pint). The music starts at noon and stops at midnight. It’s often used as a place to start the partying before hitting the other clubs, or when Space sometimes ends at 3pm, then it’s the place to go if you are just not quite ready to stop the partying!!! By day, the music is chill. However, as the day goes on, the music speeds up, becoming more tribal/dance. This is about the most famous beach bar in Ibiza, and it’s so close to the airport that the passing je...Read More

Es Pujols - Formentera Island

To take a break from the frantic clubbing on Ibiza, my husband and I took a couple of hour ferry rides from the Ibiza port to the island of Formentera. Upon arrival in the harbour town of La Savina, we caught a local bus to the seaside town of Es Pujols. With no reservations or information on this town, we just walked though town knocking on hotel and bed-and-breakfast doors. We found a place really quickly, but bear in mind that this was low season, so I wouldn't suggest doing this in the middle of August!! Es Pujols is beautiful, with the prettiest white-sand beach and clear, clean waters. It’s definitely laid-back, with the main entertainment in evenings being the bars and beer gardens. The maj...Read More
