A March 2004 trip to Rome by fish388

I suggest that you follow a walking tour from one of the guidebooks and make sure you have a good map that you can carry with you. Do not use the limited subway system, because there is so much worth seeing on the walk between major sites.

Sheraton Roma Hotel & Conference CenterBest of IgoUgo

Hotel | "Sheraton Roma"

This is a very nice hotel on the outskirts of Rome with a complementary shuttle bus to and from the center of Rome. This is perfect for the business traveler, because it also has a conference center and is along the highway to the airport.

Colosseo
It is hard to believe the magnitude and complexity of ancient construction without seeing this structure. Even in its half-demolished state it is awesome.

Attraction | "Basilica di San Pietro"

Piazza San Pietro
Like everything else in Rome, it seems as though the designers were outdoing the last guy when it comes to size and beauty, and you get to go inside San Pietro to discover the winner.

Trevi Fountain
A large sculpture and fountain in a small piazza. This is a must-see and another reason that a map is so important. Not very far from the pantheon.

Pantheon
This was one of the sites we intended to see but stumbled upon while headed to a restaurant. We approached from the rear of the building and only stopped because of the odd-looking structure, which is quite different from the front and inside.
