It is worth the price, as it's everything you have imagined and more!

You must see Old Lahaina and Molokini. If you have time, take the "Road to Hana." I rate it a so-so, but others in the party enjoyed it. I thought it was beautiful but long (about 6 to 8 hours) and boring. We flew over to Oahu for a day, rented a car, did the tour at Pearl Harbor (long, but worth it - go as early as possible), went to Dole Plantation (a little cheesy), and drove up to the North Shore.

Quick Tips:

If you go to Pearl Harbor, be there when it opens, as the line gets longer as the day goes on. If you are able, try the surfing lessons. My son had one-on-one instruction from a former pro-surfer for 2.5 hours. He was up on the first wave. (It was only .)

Best Way To Get Around:

Rent a car so you can go where you want to, when you want to. I would not use any other option. The roads are not crowded and you can stop anywhere. The night I arrived, I saw a police car at an accident (I found out the person died - local DUI) but hardly ever saw another.

Wailea Marriott Resort

This was fantastic, breathtaking, and unbelievable! The staff was friendly, accommodating, and very pleasant. There was nothing we asked for that was not taken care of immediately. The activities staff helped us plan our off-site activities, which was very helpful.

Kimo's, Leilani's, Hula Grill

They have excellent food, great service, and fantastic views. If you get there before sunset, ask for seating near the water. The view is great, and have your camera ready for the spectacular sunsets.

Bubba Gump Shrimp House

This is a fun place to eat, with decent food and friendly service. It's right on the water, and open windows do invite birds inside, so we had to shoo a couple away.

Cheeseburger in Paradise

I had the best cheeseburger I have ever eaten. I actually ate there twice during an 8-day stay. Eating at the same place twice while on vacation is rare for me, but it is that good. Fun place!

Ruth Chris Steak House

If you have never eaten at a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, be prepared for the best cut of beef you have ever eaten. Everything is á la carte and expensive. For a party of three, it cost about $140. When you order, ask the waiter about splitting your salad; they do that regularly. The salad is really huge and enough for two people. Actually, most of there items are big enough to share.
