One Boring Week at Spirit Lake

A March 2005 trip to Spirit Lake by MarriedMom

This was a terrible place to go off-season. There was little to do and few things were open. The pool and whirlpool were small and cold. No bikes were available as promised, and the weight room was a joke.

Best Things Nearby:
The people of Iowa - they were very friendly and extended themselves.

Best Things About the Resort:
We didn't have to pay extra to end this awful trip early.

Resort Experience:
The pool and whirlpool were small and cold. No bikes were available as promised. The weightroom consisted of four antiquated machines packed in a dark closet. The room had a great view of the lake, but showed wear and tear. There was nothing to do in the area because everything was closed for the season. We put on an extra 500 miles in 2 days just trying to find things to do in other cities, and we weren't successful. We ended our trip 4 days early out of boredom.
