We set off on Good Friday morning and got our train to St. Quentin. We were glad to have changed tickets and stayed in St. Quentin. It was a very nice place, and we walked along the canal to the hostel, which took about half an hour. The place was really nice, with cafés and bars, and we went to a gorgeous Chinese restaurant in the corner of the place. The hostel was really nice and quiet.
On the Saturday that we headed for Arras, we stopped in Douai on the way to Arras, which was nice, and ate ice cream. After going to the hostel, we ate in an Italian restaurant called Le Caruso, which was gorgeous. That Sunday, we looked around the war memorials and cemetery. In the evening we ate at a gorgeous Mexican restaurant, where I had chilli con carne, and it came on its own without anything else, but it was very nice! Easter Monday, everything was closed again! We ate crepes in a café on the Place des Heroes before heading to the station to catch our train home via a very rainy Paris.
Quick Tips:
The hostel in St. Quentin was only €7,40 a night and was really nice and clean. We ended up having our own room, as it was completely empty. The people working there were really nice, too. The staff of the hostel in Arras on the Grand'Place was not as friendly. We had trouble with the room and had to change after the first night because it had doors that creak and were very noisy! It's also closed from 12 to 5pm.
Best Way To Get Around:
In Arras, everything is very close together, so the town is very walkable, and the train station is about a 10-minute walk from the centre of town. For St. Quentin, you needed to get the no. 4 bus to the hostel and get off at the swimming pool, which cost €1,10 each way. The train station is also a 10-minute-walk from the centre of town
