Five days in Barcelona

An October 2005 trip to Barcelona by Nosmig

Quote: I needed a city break in a slightly warmer place than U.K. I had heard that Barcelona offered a wide range of attractions - art, architecture, shops, sunshine, restaurants, etc.

Overview

Quote:
Sagrada Familia - Yes, it's still a building site, but you'll never see another like it; it's an absolute must. Also visit La Pedera (more Gaudi) and the National Museum of Art (Montjuic), Make an 'expeditionary' trip to Tibidab using bus, tram, and funicular - a fun journey for tremendous views.

Quick Tips:

Eat a good breakfast and snack well during the day - because many of the better restaurants don't open until 8:30pm.

Best Way To Get Around:

Everything is easy. Taxis are reliable and inexpensive. Buses are excellent - and a 2- or 3-day pass is superb value. The City Turistico bus (two routes) gets you to most key sites and is good value.

Ideal location for a city break - in a pedestrianised street a few minutes' walk from la Plaza Catalunya and The Ramblas. Clean, comfortable, well-furnished rooms, friendly staff, and good service. Tremendous breakfast choice.

Yes, truly an experience. They don't take bookings, and the queue forms over half an hour before the doors open. At the busiest times, count the number in the queue ahead of you to see if the wait is worth it! Superb food, friendly and efficient staff, and great value. I wish there were more like this.

What a place! Don't be put off by the slightly scruffy appearance and its location in a side street. Wonderful food, good wines, friendly and efficient staff. It's half the price and twice as good as most other places. Hard to beat if you're on a budget - and just as good if you're not.
