Quick Tips:

I wish someone would have told us to explore the area. The day before we departed, I decided to go for an early morning drive and allow my husband to sleep in. I discovered so much more to do only 10 minutes from the resort. There are quaint shopping complexes with little bistros and restaurants.

Best Way To Get Around:

You will absolutely need a car to get around. The resort is secluded in a golf community. To make the most out of the trip, rent a car to explore the area.

Best Things Nearby:
The Vacation Village at Weston was 20 minutes from everything! There was easy access to beaches, shopping, and Ft. Lauderdale.

Best Things About the Resort:
The location of the resort was perfect. The town of Weston is surreal. Everything is picture-perfect.

Resort Experience:
Vacation Village at Weston is a great place to go if you want to kickback and relax. We were able to take short day trips without driving for any length of time. The resort also offered daily activities and group transportation to local activities, or you could enjoy one of their many pools.

Attraction

Coming from an area where the local zoos have all animals caged in an unnatural setting, the Lion Country Safari was refreshing. Driving through animals in their natural habitat was exhilarating. My husband and I were in awe. Of course, he got yelled at a few times by park rangers because he kept opening his window to take pictures.

Sawgrass Mills MallBest of IgoUgo

Attraction

The Sawgrass Mills Mall’s claim to fame is its size. Be prepared to spend a full day in the mall! There are over 300 stores split among four "avenues." I highly recommend comfortable walking shoes. If you have small children between the ages of 4 and 9, Wanna City is a must. Children get to play dress-up and pretend to work in adult jobs.

Beach at Ft. Lauderdale
I love Florida beaches! The sand is so soft and fine. You can sit on the beach and run your hands through the sand all day without getting bored. The day we went, it was a bit too windy to sunbathe, but it was still nice to walk along the beach barefoot. I personally have never seen trees of any sort growing as close to the beach as I did in Fort Lauderdale. I was amazed.

Daytona 200
I have never imagined that I would ever watch a bike race in my life. My husband is bike enthusiast. For our 5th anniversary, I treated him to a seat at the Daytona 200. For those of you who have never been to the Daytona International Speedway, be prepared for a mad house. Trying to get into the Speedway was virtually impossible. We ended up parking at a shopping center across the street and walking over. It was definitely a sight to see! The race itself was amazing. Imagine being three feet from a bike as it is zipping past you at speeds above 150mph.
