Myconos is a small, friendly Greek cafe on Polk Street. It has a nice selection of food, ranging from gyros to combination platters. We ordered a meat combination platter. The food was more than enough, and it comes with a dessert and coffee. The whole meal cost less than $20.

Myconos

Polk Street has undergone, and continues to undergo a lot of changes. Over the years, quite a few restaurants have opened up, and the street also has some interesting bookstores.

Tucked away in the middle of Polk Street is Myconos, a little Greek restaurant that has a nice homey look. The minute you walk into the restaurant, you can see the kitchen counter to your left, and straight ahead is the dining area. The place is done up in traditional Greek restaurant colors (at least that is what Greek restaurants in the US seem to be like) of blue and white, and had nice pictures of the Greek isles.

We came here one rainy afternoon for lunch, and were prepared to order a la carte. But when we scanned the menu and saw that for a couple of extra dollars we can get a combo lunch that included dessert and coffee, we elected to go with the combo option, and not the a la carte. What the friendly waitress does not tell you is that the portions are huge! In fact, two people can split one combo lunch.

We enjoyed our combination platter of Greek food that consisted of salad, appetizers, bread, and meat. One order had lamb and the other had chicken. The meat was a bit on the dry side, but that seems to be the case in many of the Greek restaurants. By the time we had the dessert and the coffee, we were stuffed. We had baklava for our dessert, and this was not your regular portion, but a super size portion. Since we had quite a bit of leftover food, we ended up taking it in a doggie bag!
