I've lived in France for six years and hope to share with you my favorite restaurants, things to see, websites, etc.

Quick Tips:

Best Way To Get Around:

No doubt about it, the Metro and RER, but the bus is good too. People often avoid it because they think it is difficult, but get a map, and it's not hard. I recommend "Le Petit Parisien", with three plans by arrondissement: 1) one normal plan, 2) one with metro/RER lines and stops overlaying the normal plan, and 3) one with bus routes and stops. The map is published by L'Editions Indispensable, www.massin.fr.

Arti

Restaurant

Arti (Indian)

Great Indian food for Paris. Good use of spices. I lived in London for four years, so I've tried many. This one in Paris is worth returning to. They also have take-away. The restaurant is typical Indian decor, with carved wood and white linen on the tables. It's very busy, so be sure to reserve. Located near Metro Vaugirard.

Cote Vignes

Restaurant

Cote Vignes (wine bar with food)

Great wine bar and restaurant. Good selection of wines. Try the chicken or beef kabobs with different sauces! They come on a planche (wooden board), with homemade fries. Reasonable. Small place and can get smoky.

Walking Tours in French

Lots of choices, depending on your interest. All are in French, but it is a great opportunity to meet French-speaking people and practice your French, for those of you who speak some.
