Experience

I visited Walt Disney World with my 5-year-old daughter this past spring. We wanted to experience as much of Disney as possible but only had two days to do it.

Disney in 2 Days

Overview

Best Disney experiences: morning opening show at Magic Kingdom, Epcot's GM Test Track ride, MGM Beauty and the Beast show (especially the opening act, four for a ), Animal Kingdom's Lion King show, Magic Kingdom show in front of the castle, Animal Kingdom safari jeep ride

Quick Tips:

Definitely make use of the Disney FastPass (saves a lot of time from standing in line).

Find out the times of the big shows during the day and plan those ahead of time. Ride the rides in between those times.

Best Way To Get Around:

Disney bus transportation is okay--not too long a wait for most (trips can actually be fun with the right driver), and the monorail trip from the Magic Kingdom to Epcot is cool too.

Mears Transportation from the airport to Disney is the cheapest way I've found (about per person one-way).

Pop Century

Pop Century is one of Disney's newest hotels. It is basically the same as their All-Star resorts, but with a "pop culture" theme, and it is located apart from the All-Star resorts. The rooms are nice, nothing special, but not much time is usually spent in the room anyway. The pools are very nice also.

Animal Kingdom Lodge

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is UNBELIEVABLE! The hotel itself is so incredibly nice. The lobby is just amazing. It is truly a masterpiece. The views out of the back of the lodge of the savannah are breathtaking, especially with all the animals. I thought that maybe we would see one or two animals around occasionally, but there were plenty, and all kinds. The pool is incredible, with a water slide. Overall, just a very nice place to stay. Can be a little expensive, but definitely worth it. We didn't stay here on our most recent trip, but we did stay here two years ago on another trip to Disney. Wish we could have stayed here again, but budgets do change.

Planet Hollywood

Restaurant

Planet Hollywood

Planet Hollywood is a very interesting place to eat. There is plenty of movie memorabilia all around the restaurant. The food is decent, but nothing spectacular. They are usually quite busy and seem to rush people in and out, which is good in that you don't have to wait long for a table, but you don't really get to enjoy dinner without feeling rushed.

Visiting the Parks

Experience

We wanted to visit all four parks in just two days. So we bought the 2-day Park Hopper pass. The first day, we spent most of the day at the Magic Kingdom, perfect for my 5-year-old daughter (I also love the Magic Kingdom). At about 5pm, we headed over to Epcot, rode the GM Test Track ride (definite must-do), and then waited for the big fireworks/fire/laser show. Very entertaining.

The second day, we started at the Animal Kingdom, stayed for about 4 hours, then headed to MGM. We both love all the shows at the Animal Kingdom and MGM, especially since they were under cover and it rained the entire day. We wanted to see the big Mickey show at MGM that night, but unfortunately, it was cancelled due to weather.

Overall, it was an excellent trip, and I definitely plan to return for another trip to see Mickey and friends.
