When I say hot, I mean HOT! The temperature daily was from 95 to 100+.

The Arc
We chose to do a sunset dinner cruise to see the famous arc, which is a rock formation that has come to be the symbol of the area. It is at "Land's End", where the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean meet. There's a great deal of hype about this area and "Lover's Beach", which is located there--so much hype that, when you go there, you are disappointed. Too much build-up! It's definitely a place you should go, but don't take the dinner cruise! That was a huge disappointment. It was expensive and very rocky, making for many seasick passengers! Not a fun trip! Go to the marina and take one of the smaller boats--there are hundreds of them. They will even drop you off at Lover's Beach and come back for you when you tell them to.

Quick Tips:

Do not take the timeshare tour at the Hacienda resort. They will tell you not to go downtown and sign up for other timeshare tours because they can offer you just as much. But they don't. Go downtown, and you'll get free scuba trips, etc. (just about anything you want) to go to one of the other timeshares. I was also told that if you get big offers downtown, then the Hacienda will match the offers.

Best Way To Get Around:

Hacienda del Mar Resort

Best Things Nearby:
The beach, downtown Cabo

Best Things About the Resort:
This IS a Gold Crown resort in every way. Everything about the resort is wonderful. There are five or six pools, which is where you spend the entire day to stay cool. The grounds are beautiful, with flowers and trees that must require constant care, as Cabo is desert with very little rainfall yearly. Every restaurant on the resort is top-notch. The room was large and comfortable. With the exception of the couch, if you plan to have someone sleeping on it. It was fine for sitting, but definitely not sleeping! The staff is friendly and helpful. You are treated like royalty. It will be difficult to find another resort as wonderful as the Hacienda del Mar.

Resort Experience:
If there is any downside to this resort, it's that there are no laundry facilities. There is laundry service, which I did not use, as I suspect it would be expensive.

The resort would not be great for someone with walking difficulties, as the entire resort is on a hill and requires a great deal of uphill (and downhill) walking.

A rental car would be a good idea if you want to see the area. The resort is quite a way from town. You can get a cab or shuttle, but it gets expensive if you use it often.

FISHING

I didn't fish myself, but more than half of the group I was with did, and every one of them caught a tuna (not to mention smaller fish). They described the whole thing as one of the greatest experiences of their lives. They are all going back to Cabo just to do it again! The hotel will cook the fish for you or prepare them in ice to transport home. They'll even arrange for you to have it mounted, as most of the people we met who had caught marlin chose to do.
