Best things to do include going to the spa at Mayan Palace, playing volleyball in the pool at 3pm, haggling at the flea market, diving at La Quebreda, and watching the sunset at Pie La Cuesta.

Quick Tips:

Take the Sunday shuttle to the flea market and grocery store. The grocery store was incredible, and if you didn't want to buy too much at Costco, you could pick up just the right amount at the store for equally good prices. They are also building a Wal-Mart closer to the Mayan Palace.

Best Way To Get Around:

Do not use the Mayan for transportation to and from the airport. It is a rip-off. They charge per person round-trip. The taxis should only charge 100 pesos each way, and that was with six people.

Restaurants and bars at the Mayan Palace

Best Things About the Resort:
Clean and friendly

Resort Experience:
It was great. The Sea Garden is smaller than the Mayan Palace, so everything you need is within short walking distance. We had the pool right outside our window. It was a short walk to the trolley, our own restaurant, a little market, and the beach. The staff was friendly and very efficient. If we needed anything, they were able to provide it right away. My only complaint is that they do not control the taxi drivers.

We were seated at the window overlooking the pool and beach. The food was delicious. We had some very nice wine, and the bill was not outrageous.

We were a party of six and were seated right at the window overlooking the beach. The atmosphere was romantic. The food was delicious. Not all of us enjoy seafood, and the steaks were excellent. Again, they had a nice selection of wines. Overall, it was a very enjoyable dinner for a reasonable amount of money.

You pay for the view. The food was only average. For the same price, you can get appetizers and wine at the restaurants at the Mayan Palace.
