This Grand Canyon Weekend Package by AAA was a fun and relaxing getaway for not too much cash. Just right for a quick trip!

Grand Canyon Inn

With the AAA package, the hotel is included. The rooms are nice, clean, and comfy, and the hotel has a nice reception area where guests can sit in front of a roaring fire. On the hotel property, there is a museum, gift shop, two restaurants, and the main attraction, the Grand Canyon Railway train depot.

Max & Thelma's Restaurant

Max & Thelma's is on the Grand Canyon Railway hotel property. They offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets that aren't bad but not top-notch, either. You can also order menu items at this establishment, but it's all made in the same assembly-line style.

South Rim

Being one of the Seven Wonders of the World and a National Historic Park, the Grand Canyon is worth all the rave. There are loads of activities to participate in, but even if you just go for the view, it's an experience you will never forget. Bring lots of film and/or video tapes. If you aren't planning on spending the night on the South Rim, take the free shuttle around to see many of the major attractions.

Riding the Rails

Experience

This line ran from 1901 to 1969. It reopened in 1989 and has been doing an excellent business since. Your trip each way to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon is about 2 hours and change. Live music entertainment, as well as "interesting" characters (some robbing the train), keep you busy until you reach the rim or the hotel, depending on which way you're going. The adult fare round-trip is $55, which is costly, but it's worth it. You can also purchase package deals by going to www.thetrain.com.
