A June 2004 trip to Puerto Vallarta by Traveler707
Quote: We stayed for one week over my birthday. It is definitely a party town. The sun was hot and the drinks were cold!
Overview
Hotel | "Club Regina Puerto Vallarta at Westin"
The beach wasn't the greatest, although we did try some snorkeling right off it, and saw quite a few happy fish. The best thing is the beds by the pool were the very comfortable foam mattresses with lots of pillows in teak pagodas with white curtains, very nice-looking.
The resort had an 'activities' director; however, most of the activities either didn't occur or started late. The best was a rousing game of pool volleyball, which was fun.
Puerto Vallarta's old town is a big party destination with lots of bars and restaurants in a compact area.

Since we are gluttons for punishment, we actually went back after that for a regular night that had no cover charge, when you buy drinks like normal. We stuck to beer that night. One thing that is fun is that you get to dance on the tables, and at certain points, any woman could go up and dance on the stage.
It's definitely a rowdy place. It's definitely more of a "go out with a group of friends dancing" place than a date place. It's kind of wild in a drunken-frat-party way. The later it gets, the more it's like that.
They do have good live bands, and for an all-you-can-drink place, the price was good. Also, there are a lot of young people here, so the people-watching is good, and everybody is there for a crazy wild time.

The food was your standard buffet fare. There was all-you-can-drink beer and wine. The setting was just perfect. The boat ride was a lot of fun.
We did a timeshare tour to get the tickets for free, but even before that I knew it was the tour I wanted to go on. It is good value because you get the sunset cruise, a meal, and a show. It was really a good time.
