We've been to Huggo's many times over the past 8 years, and it always *used* to be our favorite place in on Kona side. But it's sadly gone downhill in quality and quantity of food, as well as service. The view, perched over the ocean, is still great, of course! But the slow service and overcooked seafood really disappointed us. Definitely go for the view, but don't be surprised if you don't get what you pay for.

Now, this is a must-do if you're around Kona. A friendly crew on a well-maintained catamaran takes you down to the marine sanctuary at Kealakekua Bay. We've gone back and done this trip 10 times over the years and have never been disappointed. They offer good (though not cheap) mai tais and local beer. The barbeque lunch is good and generous and has a garden burger option as well as burgers and hot dogs with salad and chips. Sodas are free during lunch, though they do charge for them during the rest of the trip. There are good freshwater showers, and the snorkel gear seems to be in good shape.
