Family - Just like the days gone by

A February 2005 trip to Flint by CDub

Time to eat! What you think?More Photos

Not necessarily a family reunion, but it sure did feel as though it was the days gone by. The days gone by when I was young and the family gathered together to enjoy each other.

Time to eat! What you think?
It feels good to get away with the family. Quality time spent with the people that you only see at weddings and maybe funerals. The Villages during this stay made it possible for us to really stay close and have a very enjoyable time as a family.

I asked for good accommodations, and Silverleaf Villages delivered with a setup that made the trip awesome. We were given two lodges adjacent to the activity center and the lodges where in great shape. My family was in awe the entire time, and everyone left with a smile. What else can you ask for when everyone leaves spent from laughing and just enjoying each other? I cannot complain.

Quick Tips:

Quick note to you that come to the Villages: stop at your neighborhood Wal-Mart and stock up on the goods. Prices here are a little higher due to the fact there is no competition for your business.

Best Way To Get Around:

Silverleaf Villages is a large resort, and having an automobile is the best way to get around. When you are coming from Dallas, make sure you get detail information concerning directions. It can be a little difficult to find. All roads look similar.

We may catch something
The Villages has become our little getaway from the hustle and bustle of the metroplex. I recommend a getaway to the Villages as often as you can from the city.

We were given very nice accommodations on this trip as our lodges were adjacent to the activity center. We had two lodges on this getaway, and we where able to accommodate 12 people quite nicely on this trip. Four bedrooms, six beds in all, four bathrooms, and two kitchen areas were enough to accommodate our family quite comfortably. Two barbecue pits and a back porch that looks out over the ravine into the activity area were very nice, too. The layout of the lodges made it very easy to treat the two lodges as though it was a very large home.

Lake Palestine, fishing, boating, horseback riding, and a pretty good activity center are nearby.

Best Things About the Resort:
It is close enough to city to get away from the city for a few nights. It is very quiet at the villages, just perfect.
