Springtime in New Orleans

Overview

Quote:
Other than the N.O. Jazz and Heritage Festival, you can take swamp tours, shop at the Riverwalk along the Mississippi, visit museums and galleries, or go to a casino, among other things.Quick Tips: Although still springtime, 'Nawlins' is HOT during this time of year. Lax alcohol laws make it easy to forget to keep hydrated. Play it safe and have water avaiable at ALL times.Best Way To Get Around: New Orleans has a great public bus system, and taxis are available. The blue shuttle from the airport is the best deal if round-trip fare is purchased. The shuttle stops at selected hotels on the route, and you needn't be staying at them to use the shuttle. Dance, eat, and be merry!! JazzFest is always the last weekend of April and first weekend of May. Nojazzfest.com is a great website to plan your experience. Should you want to attend both weekends, you'll find that many artists hold concerts on the days in between to keep the music flowing. Each festival day costs less than $20 and includes various music styles: rock, “zydeco,” gospel, reggae, blues, etc. A GREAT value!! Ranging from least to most expensive, festival tickets can be ordered online, purchased in the city before the event, or at the door. Because the beer stands have lines, many people bring in coolers of ice (you can't bring in your own beer) to buy/hold multiple cans of beer at ...Read More

I converted my points to MasterCard credit to pay the owners of Hollger House. At the time it was $150/night for a single occupant, with added fees for additional guests. The reservation was made through Reserve New Orleans at 800/867-6309 or 504/484-7457. They request a 20% deposit upon making the reservation. Inquire about any nonrefundable deposits and their cancellation policy.
