We have spent a very exciting and relaxing week in Puerto Vallarta. We have already been there three times, and would go back any time.

Resort
Best Things Nearby:
The Puerto Vallarta downtown and old town, Gigante supermarket (across the street), and bus stop to downtown and the old town were nearby.

Best Things About the Resort:
It is close to town and units are spacious, clean, and well equipped. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Resort Experience:
The best thing about this resort is its location, which is very close to the bus stop. The bus will take you downtown in 5 minutes and to old town in 10 minutes. There is a big supermarket right across the street.

We stayed in a studio unit, which was spacious enough for two people and clean. There was no ocean view and no balcony furniture.

The resort is pretty big and has several pools. The big pool was crowded. Mostly families with kids stayed there. The smaller pools were much more quiet.

The resort’s beach was not all that nice. It was the rainy season, so the water was not clean.

The resort offers a welcoming party, which could be a lot of fun if you have a couple of shots of tequila and participate in games. We actually won a couple of items, including a tour to the Yellapa village, which was really, really good.

Scuba Diving
The best thing is that you don’t need a diving license! It was a private tour, and the instructor was with us at all times. We saw very few colorful fish, but it was still a great experience. I heard that in the Caribbean, the riffs and fish are much more colorful and exotic, but you need a diving license, which costs a lot of money. I would recommend this tour if you want to try scuba but don't want to pay a lot of money for training and license.

View from accross the river
One of the best trips was to the Yelapa village (an old Mexican village located in the jungle, only accessible by water) on the Bloodhound yacht. There were only two other people on the ship, which usually accommodates a much bigger crowd (up to 40 people), so we got a lot of attention from the crew. The yacht is a replica of a 100-year-old racing yacht which sunk. It is made of wood and is very cool-looking. The tour (for the whole day) included breakfast, lunch, drinks, snorkeling, kayaking, and a village tour. On the way to the village, we saw killer whales, which is very unusual in the summer.

View from the restaurant
The best restaurants are in the old town and are cheaper than in downtown. There are a bunch of restaurants on the shore (old town) where the tables are set up right in the sand. Make sure you get there to watch the sunset–-it is very beautiful. If you like to party at night, there are a lot of bars and clubs in PV downtown.
