Skiing at Lake Tahoe

A January 2005 trip to Lake Tahoe by suzanaj

I looked forward to seeing the snow after 5 years. I exchanged my Orlando timeshare for one week at the Lake Tahoe resort. Accommodations were old and smelly to the point that we had to move to different place.

Best Things Nearby:
Pizza restaurant with a great hot chocolate. There are nice little shops in a ski village. Must do: a candle shop where family can go and make their own candles - lots of fun there.

Best Things About the Resort:
Close to the slopes

Resort Experience:
We were disappointed with the accommodations. The place is old and smells terrible. We were forced after we had already unpacked to move to different room due to smell, but the new room WAS NOT much better. We asked for some air freshener to help cover the smell, and that helped somewhat. The resort has transportation to the ski lifts, which are about five minutes away and can be also walked, optimally when not with gear. Reception staff was not too helpful and told us: "Here: read this before you ask us any questions." Sorry, what if I can't read? I thought that comment was rude and demonstrated that "she" didn't feel like working. Activities were really goofy, like "quilting"--I came to enjoy snow, not to stick my head into my "mother's art." One of the good activities, snowshoeing, was offered only one time and did not have enough space for everybody who wanted to participate. Spas were "out of order." Overall: I would never go back there or ever recommend it to anyone.
