Martim de Sa is my best choice of beach. It is where things are always happening. The younger generation enjoy the many kiosks and a leisure activity called banana ski. And yes, I still consider myself the younger generation.LOL The beaches of Indaia, Grande, Camaroeiro,Prainha, Cocanha and Tabatinga offer milder waves which are more favorable for families with children.

Quick Tips:

If you have time and the desire, you could spend alot of enjoyable pleasure exploring all of Sao Paulo state's beaches. They are primiliarly located one after another along the waters of the Atlantic. As you will see from so many of my journals of the beaches, they all possess great times for yourselves and your families.

Best Way To Get Around:

Caraguatatuba is like so many of the cities along the Atlantic seaboard. You could almost never get lost driving along the shores from city to city. A rental car would be advisable since with time, you will enjoy exploring all.

Sol and Cia KiosksBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

The kiosks of Sol & Cia are among my favorites. I can get a lunch special of fish platter for only 5 Real ($2.50 US Dollars) and a can of Kaiser beer for only one Real (fifty cents).

Among my favorites of these kiosks are their shrimp, tropical salad, and chicken platters.

Their staff are capable of translating into the languages Spanish and English. Maybe this is why I prefer their kiosks.

You can also get coca-cola for those not interested in beer or a tropical fruit drink.

I liked these locations since they are open from 8 in the morning till ten at night.

You can't miss their signs with a big coca-cola sign on top of a pole.

Caraguatatuba Ice CreamBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Ice Cream Flavors"

Pineapple Paradise
Caraguatatuba offers some very enjoyable ice cream.

Most of its ice creams are produced naturally, meaning you are tasting good ice cream not the processed stuff back home.

Soft ice cream and ice cream on a stick are among those offered most often. My favorite is a ice cream which is sold on a stick, sold by street vendors walking with a push cart ice cream box on wheels.

My favorite flavor is coconut. Its flavor is so real.

If you love ice cream as much as I do, you will be in paradise.

They are about only a quarter for one of those popsicles based on the current strong dollar.

Martim de Sa beachBest of IgoUgo

Story/Tip

Martim de Sa beach
This is my favorite beach among 25 miles of terrific beaches here. Many with names derived from the Brazilian Indians of the past. Most names come from the Guarani Indians.

The cities beaches start at the Juqueriquere river bordering Sao Sebastiao and ending at Tabatinga river bordering Ubatuba.

Martim de Sa is more frequented by younger people. I enjoyed viewing ski-banana and eating at its many different kiosks along the beach.

My favorite drink would be that of guarana.

It comes from a seeded plant from the Amazon jungle and is extremely good to drink. In its raw form it is very strong and not too good.

It is retailed throughout Brazil, although Pepsi has attempted in bringing its flavor to USA, but has added Cherry flavor to it, hence in my opinion, destroying its great flavor.

That is why every time I visit Brazil, a guarana is on my list of things to enjoy.

On the sands of the beach are many sports participated. Among them is volleyball and a true Brazilian type of volleyball-soccer. It is called futvolei.

It is based on the principal of volleyball, but the use of hands are restricted. The players use only their feet and heads. Now, you know why brazil is so good at soccer, huh.

You will also see some surfing off its shores.

This is why it is my favorite. A lot of action.

Cocanha BeachBest of IgoUgo

Story/Tip

Cocanha Beach
Cocanha beach is also still frequented by a lot of people.

Cocanha beach is good with family that have small children, since its waves are much more calmer.

I used to take my son to this beach when he was young, but now it is not as favorable to him as Martims de Sa.

It has some kayaks which you could rent and practice in its calmer waters.

The sand of the beach runs about 8 miles from the center of town.

It is very clean and a good choice for those with children.

Caraguatuba
Among the many different beaches of Caraguatuba are ones for just about each and every person whom would visit this wonderful place. During holidays its sands are very frequented by people participating in sports.

Grande, Indaia and Palmeiras have soccer and volleyball. The beaches of Indaia,Capricornio e Massaguacu are the favorites among those who enjoy fishing. To see some interesting activities, you should go to Tabatinga beach where there is jet skiing, water skiing, windsurfing and para sailing.

As well as surfing on Martim de Sa, another location for surfing is Brava beach. Access to Brava beach is via entering Martim de Sa. The surfers are an interesting event.

As I become older, Mococa beach will become one of my favorites. Its white sands are to be favorable for those with arthritis. Excuse, possibly spelling it incorrectly, since I am still young, at least at heart. LOL! Its sands possess some small traces of uranium, so small that the radiation is good for you.

Massaguacu beach is good for fishing with the long poles which shall permit you to not enter the waves of the shore.

I found that the best times were in the early morning hours.

Of course, the only thing I caught was a good suntan, since I stayed until early afternoon.

All of the beast beaches have kiosks where you can enjoy an occasional guarana or other cold drinks.

Avenida Arthur Costa Filho "Avenue of the beach", the sidewalk premises of Rua Santa Cruz in the center of the city and Avenida Aldino Schiavi as well as the beach of Martim de Sa are very popular with tourists and locals both.

Every night along the sidewalk area of Rua Santa Cruz are nightclubs and bars. It starts getting active around eight in the evening.

Many different bars offer live music and affordable drinks.

In the center of the city are about four different shopping malls for your pleasure.

This city's restaurants offer very good seafood and even a sushi bar. Azul-Marinho is a traditional dish among people of Caraguatatuba. It is a fish dish cooked with green bananas. It is very good.

Caraguatatuba is located along the shores of Sao Paulo State, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

There is a another location about 20 miles away called Ilha Bela, meaning Beautiful Island which is near Sao Sebastiao.

Caraguatatuba is west of the city of Ubatuba (30 miles)and east of the city of Sao Sebastiao,(20 miles) which are other great places to visit.

It is located about 120 miles from the Capital City of Sao Paulo.

It is near impossible to get lost around here.

Starting in Santos, you travel up the coast on State Road 55 connecting to State Road 101 heading in the direction of the state of Rio de Janeiro.
