This is a popular beach destination for North Carolina and South Carolina residents. Find a hotel with a lazy river - most have one.

Ocean Creek Resort

Ocean Creek has very nice condominium style accommodations. They are great for a family. Our unit slept the five of us very comfortably. There was a full kitchen which helped with meals. There was a nice living room with a sleeper sofa. There was a screened porch with a table and chairs. And there was one bedroom with a king size bed.
In the complex there is an indoor pool and whirlpool were nice too. It was a long walk to the beach, though. In peak times, they have a tram to take people back and forth, but we were there in the fall, so there was no tram.

Best Things Nearby:
Right on the beach, but you have to go through the entrance at the street to get on the beach... wear shoes to walk on the pebbly pavement.

Best Things About the Resort:
Nice oceanfront location

Resort Experience:
This high-rise hotel/time share has an indoor pool and hot tub during the winter. The glass walls come down for the summer so one can enjoy the warm summer air and ocean breezes. The rooms are spacious and comfortable apartments. All the rooms are oceanfront with a nice size balcony to sit outside and watch the ocean. I particularly enjoyed watching the activity on the beach as people walk by and birds swoop down to fish. Or you can watch the boats off on the horizon. We had a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment. There was a cable TV with HBO in each bedroom, and one in the living room. The Master bedroom has a king size bed and its own bathroom. The other bedroom has 2 twin beds. The living room had a fold out couch and fold out chair, so you could actually sleep 7 people comfortably in this unit. The decor was comfortable but not extravagant. However, each room is decorated differently, so your experience may vary. Lazy Rivers are popular in most Myrtle Beach hotels, and I was disappointed that this place does not have one. It does have nice exercise facilities though. You get an assigned parking space when you arrive so you should never have to worry about where to park when you return to the hotel. (Notice I said 'should'). This is a very family friendly resort, and we enjoyed a relaxing stay!

Damon's Grill

Restaurant

Damon's

Damon's is an extraordinary restaurant with a very beautiful setting, because it's right on the beach, it's perfect for a beautiful waterfront dining experience! This is absolutely my favorite restaurant in Myrtle Beach. The ambience here is just great! When the weather is warmer, sitting outside is the best choice! Your table will be right next to the scenic Atlantic Ocean! This is the only restaurant in Myrtle Beach that offers this dining fabulous experience. I don't know why more beach town restaurant shouldn't be this way. It is so relaxing to listen to the sound of the waves crashing on the shore while enjoying a great meal. The atmosphere is truly wonderful. The only thing between you and the water is the vast expanse of sand with beachgoers, relaxing on towels or chairs, swimming or just walking by. I like the people-watching part just as much as watching the water, and there is a lot of action to watch! You can also choose an inside table and still have the ocean and beach view, but it just won't be the same without the sounds, and you'll have an obstructed view.

The atmosphere inside is unique and relaxing as well though. The decor inside is kind of rustic, with lots of wood, on the floor and walls. The food here is delicious too. The ribs are an excellent choice. You can also get a nice steak and potato meal. I had the steak with a baked potato and it was really good! If you are there after dinner, the bar area is nice for drinks, entertainment and meeting people too. Even if you don't go out to eat anywhere else, or if you are only going out to eat one time during your vacation, Damon's is a MUST for your Myrtle Beach trip.

Barefoot Landing

Activity

Barefoot Landing

Barefoot Landing is an upscale shopping complex that has a rather nice relaxing atmosphere. It has a rustic, nautical decor which makes it nice to walk around and enjoy the atmosphere even if you are not there to shop.
The walkways are made of wood to look like a pier, so it gives that beachy feeling as you listen to the wood creak with each footstep.

There are also many unique but expensive shops to see if you like shopping, browsing, or window shopping. The window shopping and browsing are free, of course, and with most of the prices here, that is what we did! Most of the shops offer unique items at a price to match. Many of the shops had a beachy theme with rustic nautically decor or nautical things for sale. Not all the shops were pricey though, so you may be able to find the unique treasure at a reasonable price, ready to take home with you.

There is a nice big lake in the middle of the complex with a long wooden bridge going across the middle. You can buy fish food from the little gumball type vending machine. It's like little pebbles of dog food, but the fish love it! We had the most fun watching and feeding the fish! A school of big carp live in the lake and are always waiting for food to descend upon them. When they see people on the bridge, they come over to see if there will be food. When the food starts landing in the water they swarm over each other to get it, even jumping out of the water and laying on top of each other. You can tell they are used to being fed.

There are several restaurants that make good choices for lunch or dinner options, some have a seafood theme, some have outdoor dining. It is nice for a relaxing afternoon or evening activity. Some offer nighttime entertainment.

Tanger Outlet

The place is deserted, with not many stores. It's mostly empty, dark stores, which makes it kind of scary, spooky, and sad. It used to be a nice mall. You won't spend much here because there's nothing to buy!

Myrtle Beach Factory Outlet Stores

This is an outlet mall worth going to, especially if you need to buy something. I particularly enjoyed the Croscill Outlet, which is cheaper than department stores. Thre are lots of shops to visit. There is also a food court. We had lunch there one day, and it had plenty of space.
