In our younger days, Cathey and I camped on beaches from Maine to the Outer Banks to the Florida Keys. The first time we approached the Rockies by car, we thought we were seeing a cloud bank. Big Sur jade miners swapped stories with us around a California campfire. As the years have passed, we’ve opted more for comfort, flying to destinations instead of driving, nestling into boutique hotels in the French Quarter and Aspen. We began our days at the 2-star Hotel Residence in Nissan lez Enzerune with petite-dejeuner. Self-service began at 8am, and I usually started with an assortment of fresh fruit accompanied by that wonderful French invention for starting the morning off right, pain au chocolat. After that, I moved to a hard-boiled egg and, depending on my mood, either yogurt or slices of cold cuts and cheese with a chunk of a fresh baguette and pats of sweet French butter. Neither of us is into cereals, but a couple of varieties were always available. Lots of coffee with milk was properly heated.
