Gatlinburg, Tennessee, in the Fall

An October 2004 trip to Gatlinburg by windwoodacres

The color change was fabulous! I would recommend visiting in the fall; it was a pleasant surprise, to say the least. There was much to do and plenty of beautiful vistas. It was a little humid, though.

Best Things Nearby:
Dinner shows in Pigeon Forge. The parkway scenery doesn't get any better. Alamo Steakhouse (a local favorite) is a great place to eat.

Best Things About the Resort:

Resort Experience:
This resort is 20 years old or so, but the rooms are very nice, with fireplaces, and the service was fantastic; the hosts were very hospitable. It's close to downtown, within walking distance, and on the Trolley route.

The playground for the children was nice, as was the parking area (parking is in short supply in Gatlinburg). The waterfall was very beautiful also.

Best Things Nearby:
Gatlinburg strip is a shopper's delight! Many shops, with trolley service available.

Best Things About the Resort:
Location was quiet and off-the-beaten-path, and what a view! Spacious.

Resort Experience:
This resort is located on the outskirts of Gatlinburg. The lofts are spacious, tastefully decorated, quiet, and have fireplaces. It's a very romantic area, away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. We liked this resort and would return again.

Restaurant

The steak was fantastic and monstrous! This is a favorite with all the locals, worth the price, and a must if you visit Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge.
