The Ritz Carlton chain has fast developed a reputation for excellent five-star hotels. The locals describe the Sharm hotel as six-star, but in all honesty, you should knock at least one star off if you want to compare internationally. Similarly I mentally add a star for Thai hotels. The main hotel building features a vast and impressive lobby with comfortable sofas, a few shops, a bar, and a wall of windows that look out over the Red Sea. This was our 25th Hard Rock Cafe, and we were not disappointed--the cafe was well up to standard, although it's globally one of the least expensive. BBQ bacon cheeseburger and fries were about USD$4. However, be advised that local sensitivities mean that the 'bacon' is actually made from beef, but it is not unpleasant for all that.

The Pomodoro is on the main drag in Na'ama Bay, next door to the Camel Bar. It has a dozen or so tables outside where you can chill and watch the world go by.

We had a really filling "Philadelphia" cheese steak sandwich and fries, with a beer, for about $10.

Sadly, the spicy prawn sandwich has caused serious problems with my wife's digestion, but heck, caveat emptor.
